In my opinion, school exams were some of the most stressful I ever did! Not only is there so much material to cover in such a short period of time, but there is so much riding on these exams, putting young people under an immense amount of pressure. As I remember how stressful these exams were, I look forward to the chance to help students by giving them 1-to-1 support.

I've been tutoring on MyTutor for over a year, and also teach university students in my spare time! I've really enjoyed my tutoring experiences so far - it's great to know that you hard work can make a positive impact on someones life. For example, this year I helped a student get a C in iGCSE biology. This student had failed the iGCSE twice before and needed the grade to apply to become a teacher. It's great to know that this student can now pursue her dream after all the hard work we put in!

About my sessions

The way I teach will 100% depend on you! In the initial meeting, I'll ask you questions regarding your aims and goals and a bit about yourself as well as what you struggle with. I'll then tailor each session to fit your needs, altering teaching techniques if they don't work well. I'll then tailor each session to fit your needs, altering teaching techniques if they don't work well. Personally, I am quite a visual person and really enjoyed learning from drawings and diagrams at School. I am happy to use and draw cartoons to explain certain theories etc. I can also type up notes and fact sheets for you to take away. I like to think I am creative in my teaching techniques, hopefully making learning fun for you! Additionally, as exam time approaches, I am happy to go over past papers and provide exam style questions to work through together.

Measuring progress is an important part of tutoring, not only allowing me to make sure that my teaching techniques are working but to ensure that you are benefiting from the extra work! Throughout my sessions, I will ask you questions and at the end of the session, I'll let you know how you have done! This will allow me to track progress. I’m a very open person and am happy to advise students as much as I can, whether that be about university or future careers etc.

Policy: I ask for lessons to be paid for 24 hours in advance, otherwise I cannot guarantee I will be available. Additionally, with regards to lesson cancellation I ask for 24-hour notice in order for you to be refunded.

Kelly is a natural teacher. She is patient and explains often difficult concepts in a way that my daughter understands and grasps immediately. The increase in my daughter's understanding and confidence in Chemistry since she has been learning with Kelly has been marked and we are both very happy that she is helping her.

My daughter was initially a bit anxious in having a private tutorial, but Kelly is so gentle that my daughter was quickly at ease with her. Kelly's science teaching skills are faultless. Really recommend this teacher. My daughter is even asking for extra maths tuition with Kelly!!!

My daughter Demi had a Higher Biology assessment scoring 45% so we decided to get additional tutoring. So impressed, Demi has only had 2 sessions with Kelly before resitting her assessment today and with an amazing result managed to score 80%. Totally has regained Demi's confidence and certainly will be continuing the tutoring with Kelly until the actual final exam next year. Thank you Kelly and Demi is really enjoying her sessions with you.

Kelly's reply

That is fantastic news! I'm glad I've helped Demi build up her confidence in GCSE Biology 😊 She is definitely capable of achieving a high grade in Higher Biology if she keeps at it and trusts her instinct. I'm looking forward to continuing our sessions.
