About me

Hi, my name is Nathan and I currently study Computer Science at the University of Warwick. I have been a tutor on MyTutor for over 2 years now and have a strong experience of advancing students to achieve their goals.

I love Computer Science because it is always evolving and developing, yet the logical foundations it was first developed on are still just as applicable as today. It is a subject that can be involved in any other, this has granted me many great opportunities....

I love Computer Science because it is always evolving and developing, yet the logical foundations it was first developed on are still just as applicable as today. It is a subject that can be involved in any other, this has granted me many great opportunities. I spent a summer working with Barclaycard working on ways to implement biometric security into their digital banking systems.

I am very experienced with exams and have learnt a lot over the years. I believe there is very little that divides a student achieving A’s and B’s and those achieving A*’s, the main divider is the ability to apply the knowledge, that all have, to the exam situation. In my tutorials, I ensure that all my students have this ability and will work closely with past papers to develop this.

Outside of education, I study Shotokan Karate and play Ultimate Frisbee. Karate is a great martial art as it teaches dedication, I must be dedicated to my training and I have used this in many more aspects. I must be dedicated to my revision, I must be dedicated to my team and I am dedicated to helping my students.

About my sessions

The first step for every student will be to identifying areas of strength and weaknesses, and then deciding on the best strategy to improve the weaknesses, as well as pushing and developing your strengths. I will focus on teaching to your exam board and make sure you know everything you must so that in every exam achieving full marks is always a possibility.

I know that the key to success at exams is past papers (they are the Holy Grail for students). I will use past papers in most tutorials as they are great to show what questions students will be expected to answer in their exams. I will also use past papers to assess understanding in certain topics.

During my A-levels and GCSE’s I would never move onto a new topic until I had a strong understanding and I could complete exam style questions. In many cases this resulted in asking many questions, I have been lucky to have great teachers who could always help me or point me in the right direction. For my students, I am always available to ask questions or check some working.

If you are interested please contact me so we can arrange a free ‘Meet the Tutor’ session in which we can discuss the next steps and discover exactly where I can help. I look forward to hearing from you.
