Degree: Psychology (Doctorate) - Durham University
My aim is to find an area which my students can really relate to for the subjects I teach and develop this alongside the syllabus. This is important because the exam boards can focus on narrow subjects and this can leave students unsure why they are studying a subject they may otherwise love.
I also feel it is important to focus on exam questions so that students know exactly what they are going to face and how a large mass of information can be made considerably more manageable. I am comfortable with the different exam boards and the wide range of subjects taught and in this sense I am quite flexible in terms of content. I have had experience with different students and teaching to groups, so I am aware of the need to tailor my approach to different audiences.
For more advanced student, I have a range of additional reading not found in textbooks and ways to keep their interest. Furthermore, for those who are interested in applying to study Psychology at University, I can also provide personal statement advice.
