About me

Hi! My name is Jonathan and I'm a second-year medical student at King's College London. Biology, Chemistry and Maths all make up large parts of my degree and I would love to share my passion for them with students! Having been through the gruelling admissions process for medical school, I understand just how hard it can be to get everything right. With just 1 in 10 applicants getting a place, it has never been tougher. Luckily, I can help with everything from personal statements and interview prep through to admissions tests. I achieved a score of 763 in my UKCAT, an average of 6.1 in my BMAT and secured offers from 3 medical schools. As your tutor, I will help to bring out that drive and passion that you need to succeed in securing a university place and gaining excellent A-Level grades. I also have a lot of experience tutoring 11+ and 13+ students, having done so since the age of 15 helping them to secure places in the top private and grammar schools. Doing these exams myself provided me with invaluable experiences and tips that I would love to be able to pass on! In my free time, I enjoy playing the piano and singing and have recently begun training for my pilot's licence.

About my sessions

I understand the feeling of being completely stuck. I've felt it many times at various points and it's nothing to be worried about. Nobody can do it all on their own! Having had experience tutoring before, I have found that every session needs to be different. Different students learn in different ways so I like to be flexible with my sessions by collating various resources and designing activities specifically for each session. My general session plan will be to focus on 2-3 specific points to ensure that you have a thorough understanding of all the content and don't gloss over anything. Unfortunately though, just learning everything and regurgitating it isn't enough anymore, understanding and applying your knowledge to every situation is essential for picking up those extra few marks that can make all the difference. This is the hard bit but do not despair! That's precisely why I like to focus on application of knowledge by regularly testing you with exam-style questions to make sure that your knowledge is just as comprehensive as you need it to be.

Describe the difference in boiling point, colour and viscosity between the fuel oil and gasoline fractions.

The fuel oil fraction has a higher boiling point. It is also dark brown in colour while the gasoline fraction is yellow. It is also more viscous (thicker and flows less easily) due to the fuel oil molecules being larger and the chains being longer. The fuel oil fraction has a higher boiling point.
