About me

I am an approachable and helpful University undergraduate studying English who would love to help students improve in their study of literature. Literature is a big passion of mine, and there has always been nothing I have loved more than settling down with a good book, and it is this attitude that I would love to spread to more pupils. However, I am also willing to tutor in french and maths, two subjects I have always excelled in, and that I am also passionate about ensuring others get to grips with. By now I have had a lot of exeperience of completeling exams, and I fully understand how nerve wracking they can be, allowing me to empathise with future students. However I learnt a lot from my exeperiences and therefore believe I have lots of helpful advice to pass on that will allow students to succeed as I myself did. I would help my students improve by ensuring they fully understand whatever aspect of the subject they are currently studying, and I would tailor all my sessions to directly help the individual and improve on their weaknesses. I see myself to be hard-working, conscientous and truly dedicated to my field of study which is why I believe I would be the perfect tutor.

I have been tutoring with my tutor for over a year now, and in last years GCSEs, my english students all excelled, achieving grades ranging from 6s to 9s. I also had success tutoring in maths GCSE with one student achieving a 6!

About my sessions

I would spend my lessons giving tips on how to write and plan essays, and as I consider myself to understand exam boards and what they want very well (I achieved all A*s in my GCSEs from a state school), I believe I can help children flourish in their exams as well as learning to love their subject. Moreover, I believe past questions are paramount to students exceeding, so after getting to know the pupil I would use past exam questions to test them and see if they are understanding what I am teaching. From this I will be able to measure progress, up until a point where they are ready to do a full 'mock' which I would have created and would mark, as I believe this is the best way for students to finally aply their knowledge. However, my lessons would not only be focused around tests, as I believe enjoyment of the subject is crucial to succeeding in it. so I would do my best to make the subject seem relevant to everyday life.

Hannah is amazingly patient and understanding, tailoring her style to that of my son, who has developed confidence and understanding as a result of his sessions with her. I highly recommend Hannah as a tutor.

Although my daughter has only had a couple of lessons so far, Hannah has managed to create interest in a subject that my daughter really didn’t like or find easy. I’m sure there’s more to come......
