About me

I am starting my 3rd year at Bristol University studying Veterinary Science and I thoroughly enjoy getting to study the science of many species, but also develop the problem solving skills that are involved with diagnosing an animal. This is one reason that I enjoy maths and have chosen to tutor, because it is all about solving problems and figuring out the best course of action to complete the question. This is one reason that I enjoy maths and have chosen to tutor, because it is all about solving problems and figuring out the best course of action to complete the question. I love seeing my students' confidence grow as they develop their skills throughout the sessions and start to feel happier about maths and exams in general.

I have been tutoring for over 2 years now on MyTutor and have successfully helped many students pass their GCSEs and improve their grades from their mocks to their exams.

About my sessions

Every session will be based on what the student needs, whether that is filling in small gaps of knowledge or running through the whole curriculum to reinforce what has been learnt in lessons. My main aim is to improve a student's confidence in maths so that they are able to tackle any question thrown their way.

Every session will be based on what the student needs, whether that is filling in small gaps of knowledge or running through the whole curriculum to reinforce what has been learnt in lessons. My main aim is to improve a student's confidence in maths so that they are able to tackle any question thrown their way.

I understand that every person learns in different ways so I will try lots of methods to explain a question or topic to make sure that it has been understood. When looking at a problem it might initially look impossible, but when given a different perspective and different method, suddenly it all makes sense- this is what I will try to do for the student.

For students that are studying for their GCSEs, I make sure to compare all the topics I teach against their exam board specification to make sure that everything has been covered for the best possible results in exams.

My sessions are a very low pressure environment allowing my students to have a clear mind and take in what we are covering, rather than feeling stressed and worried. I then build on this towards GCSE's to help my students continue to have this calm clear mind even when in the high pressure situation of exams.

Following GCSE mocks, my son took up tutoring with Harriet and achieved two grades higher in his GCSE Maths than he would have done if he'd not had the extra help from Harriet.
