About me

Hello, my name is Riyadh Menacer. I'm a second year Computer Science & Robotics Major at the University of Nottingham. The reason why i chose this course is because i was in love of mathematics and how it can be applied to a more practical field, so that's why i chose the robotics side. As for the computer science side, i chose this because it will give me the tools needed to enhance my skills and be able to apply it in different fields of science. As well as, being the future technology.

I studied 5 GCSE's subjects in a time-period of 3 months achieving A's in all subjects. In A-levels, i took Mathematics, Chemistry, Arabic and Physics, achieving AAAB respectively. Through this experience, i taught myself how to learn. The best thing I've learnt in my life.

Honestly, learning is not hard, if you know how to learn. Through my tutor lessons i will help the student not only to understand what they do not understand but also teach them how to learn it themselves in a way which they will need less support as time goes by. This is such an essential skill to have when starting your A-level/University journey.

On a more soft side, i love football and bodybuilding, as well as, reading about astronomy and just enjoying life in general.

Thank you for reading. Hoping to see you soon.

About my sessions

First thing i'll do is to be in contact with the student and ask him what exam board his school is following and what areas of a particular subject he's struggling on. This is so we don't waste any tutoring session times.

The first part of the session, i will start off with the easiest topics, just so that the student gets in the flow of the session and starts engaging. Gradually moving to harder topics as we progress through the session. Ensuring that the student understands each topic from back-to-back, and that he is comfortable with it.

I will track his progress over time (weeks/months), and see what areas he's still lacking on so that we can recap on those areas again to enhance his understanding.

The most important part of the session will be the last 15 minutes, where the student will play the tutor side, and he will try and teach me what he has just learned (as this has been proven to be one of the best learning techniques).

I believe through these careful steps, the student will gain the most out of the sessions and will be comfortable in all the topics he's struggling on.

Questions Riyadh has answered

Where does the quadratic formula come from?

This is one of the most common a level math question. One which is essential to understand as it gives a firm understanding of core fundamental principles in math which are Completing the square and Algebra Manipulation. It is simple, you start with the general quadratic equation: ax^2 +bx + c = 0, and use the 'Complete the square' technique to this, and the with some algebra manipulation, you can reach the final quadratic formula. This is one of the most common a level math question.
