Degree: Experimental Psychology (Bachelors) - Bristol University
Hi, I’m Tia and I study Experimental Psychology at the University of Bristol.
Having sat my A-level exams only a few months ago, I have a clear understanding of the pressure students are likely to face come exam time. I am also more familiar with the exam content and the techniques required to attain high grades. For instance, I realise that many of the questions on the AQA Psychology exam rely on detailed memory of a large number of studies. Therefore, in my tutorials I will try to provide new and exciting ways to help students learn these studies and ultimately recall them with ease. Essay structure is another important aspect of exam technique, so these tutorials will have a particular focus on learning to write detailed, yet concise answers under strict time constraints.
I have previously tutored students in GCSE maths and science at school, so I have some experience in explaining complex ideas in a way that others can understand them. This has shown me that whilst exam technique is important, conceptual understanding of biology is essential in order to achieve top grades at GCSE. Therefore, in my tutorials I will first and foremost try to develop a strong conceptual understanding of the subject material in my students and then apply this to exam questions.
Despite the focus on exam technique, I would like to emphasise that each tutorial is different and will be guided entirely by the needs of the student. I provide plenty of opportunities to ask questions and will ensure that each tutorial is going in the direction the student requires. I am also always open to feedback and will try and incorporate suggestions into future tutorials.
Ultimately I hope to help students develop a genuine interest in both subjects as I believe that the subjects you do best in, are the ones you love.
I’m available on:
Monday, Thursday and Friday from 4pm-9pm
Wednesday from 12pm-9pm
Saturday and Sunday, from 9am-9pm
However, my university timetable is pretty flexible and I can be available at almost all times of the day if required.
So if you think that I might be able to help, feel free to drop me an email and arrange a free ‘meet the tutor’ session with me and we’ll go from there.
I hope to see you in the virtual classroom!
