Hello! I am a graduate from the University of Oxford in English Language and Literature. I am currently studying at L'Ecole Phillippe Gaulier in Paris, following in the footsteps of comedians such as Sacha Baron Cohen. Alongside tutoring, I work as a director, theatremaker and physical comedian.

I loved studying English Literature because it was a subject that allowed for real creativity of thought - which is what I want to encourage in my students. I will help my students improve by providing them with sessions which allow them to think experimentally, and which are a stark contrast to more linear classroom-based interpretations of a text's meaning. I create tutorials which encourage the kind of independent thinking which will stand a student in good stead for studying at A Level and higher, no matter what stage of their education they are currently in.

About my sessions

I have found that connecting personally with the student over their personal interest in the subject is the best way to improve their knowledge and understanding. I believe it is not the teacher's role to judge the student, but to help them to make their own discoveries! I aim to always engage with students on an even level.

I have found that connecting personally with the student over their personal interest in the subject is the best way to improve their knowledge and understanding. I believe it is not the teacher's role to judge the student, but to help them to make their own discoveries! I aim to always engage with students on an even level.

To this extent, I think it is important to not simply plough through the curriculum, but to make tutorials a conversation which includes other texts and influences. The aim of these sessions is to arrive at a point where I can have a fluent and engaging debate with the student about a text. What I found most helpful when preparing for exams was practising constructing an argument spontaneously - because an exam essay written under time constraints is more like an improvised speech than a steadily-written essay written at home.

The approach to this will involve a series of introductory tutorials where we hone our abilities for analysing a text's form, language and content - skills, which, when combined with an elastic way of thinking, leads to higher levels of textual analysis!
