About me

I am a third year biology student at university, specialising in ecology and conservation. Biology allows you to look at all life and understand how and why it works that way. I am extremely passionate about science, especially because it is about asking questions and finding out the answers for yourself. I hope that I can convince you to love it as much as I do! Things I enjoy doing in my spare time are hiking with my family, yoga, and playing piano.

I remember taking my exams at school and completely understand the pressures of young students. I know that it can be stressful and you can sometimes feel a bit helpless and alone. I'm here to break down topics that can sometimes seem overwhelming and make them seem a bit less scary.

As a tutor, I am dedicated to bringing students an understanding of the topics they struggle with. I am happy to answer any questions about tricky subjects or give advice on exam technique and confidence, as well as study skills. I love when students ask me questions because it means they are at least thinking about what I am saying!

I look forward to helping you learn!

About my sessions

I realise that each individual will learn in a unique way. Before I start teaching a student, I like to find out how much they already know, what kind of learning style they have and the topics that they struggle with in particular. I explain things in a way that is simple to understand and can help work a student through complicated topics by breaking it down.

I realise that each individual will learn in a unique way. Before I start teaching a student, I like to find out how much they already know, what kind of learning style they have and the topics that they struggle with in particular. I explain things in a way that is simple to understand and can help work a student through complicated topics by breaking it down.

During a typical lesson, I will briefly recap the previous session and see what the student remembers and give them a chance to ask about anything they didn't understand. Then I will go through an interactive lesson I have prepared. This usually takes the form of a powerpoint based off of the course syllabus with some quizzes inside that I make for each individual student.

I try to make my lessons as engaging and fun as I can and usually give tips about how the students can remember things more easily.

I usually end our lessons with an activity that allows us to recap what we went over, such as drawing a quick mindmap or some past paper questions, depending on how confident the student is with the material and what stage they are at. I only give optional homework that I think will be beneficial for their learning and I try to make it as interesting as I can.

If there is any other lesson structure that a student would prefer, I am happy to follow that instead.
