About me

I have always found teaching to be a perfect method of revision; if you can teach someone something then it is an indication that you really understand it. I would make a good tutor because I have done it informally before. I am currently tutoring two girls at AS level, giving them practical guidance in their A levels and also in their applications to Oxbridge (having been there myself a few years ago). 

I know that during my A levels and GCSEs I would have found it better to talk to a student a few years above, who can actually understand what it involves, than a teacher. I would like to provide that for other people. 

I am friendly, approachable and easy to talk to, I think this is essential to be a good tutor. However, I am also very driven and motivated, and I take pleasure in my success as well as knowing I have contributed to the success of others. I also have a really good memory, and so teaching things I learned a few years ago is not going to be a proplem. 

I am mostly available around wednesday night and all day thursday (this is the end of my week at Cambridge). However, I can make myself available for a few hours at a time on most days of the week and also at weekends. 

In terms of subjects, I am happy to teach History, English Literature at GCSE and A level and Law and Psychology at A level. 

With History my knowledge is predominantly modern - so from the 1800s to modern day. I have a particular depth of knowledge in Germany 1900-45 but have also studied Italy 1815 - 1945, the changing rights of women from 1839 - 1920s and International relations in Europe around WW1 and WW2. 

I have an indepth knowledge of the perspectives of psychology as well as their applications in the medical context. I have studied schizophrenia, bipolar, unipolar, phobias, OCD, crime, gender, aggression, obedience, conformity etc. 

My tutoring in Law A level requires an indepth knowledge of the legal system, the system of precedent and other methods of resolving disputes (ADR). I also have a broad knowledge of Tort Law and Crime, as I studied it at A level and am currently continuing my studies in these areas.
