About me

I am a Franco-American student doing a Bachelor in Politics at the University of Exeter. I feel the need to understand the world around me. My absolute love of learning has grown as I believe that acquiring and sharing knowledge allows interesting conversations and debates. I went to school at the Lycée International de St Germain-en-Laye (France) in the American section and then at the Lycée International Georges Duby in a British section. I took the French Baccalaureate with the British option (OIB). Studying 2 programmes simultaneously taught me to adapt to various methods as well as to deal with copious amounts of knowledge and work. The OIB is composed of 12 subjects, testing us both in oral and written exams for languages and hist-geo. I have acquired high writing and speaking skills in a wide range of subjects and am now extremely organized and can deal with high expectations. While applying, I alone researched which course and university I wished to go to. This long and dense process might seem overwhelming, but since I did it on my own I can be of immense help to you! I joined the sailing, my true passion, and boxing club. I truly believe that doing sports gives us balance in our everyday life and allows well-deserved breaks from studying! I also joined ExMUN, which is a simulation of United Nations. We discuss day to day events while representing a country and its interests, engaging in lively debates!

About my sessions

Thanks to my bilingual education in international schools, I can help with writing and oral skills in English literature and French, as well as history and geography using various methods. Here are some examples of the learning techniques I use: synthesize the lesson, rephrasing the lesson into a question and then answering it, being able to explain the lesson to someone else, using mind maps and schemes… I used these methods while studying for my final exams, and I can only hope that with my help they will be useful to you as well!

Structure of the tutorial: firstly, we will discuss things that the tutees didn’t understand in class, or help give another explanation to solidify the knowledge they've acquired. We can plan and organize your workload, as well as discuss exercises I can give to improve specific skills. I can help with learning difficulties or if you have trouble reapplying what you have learned. The goal is for you to be able to apply the methods you’ll have learned from the tutorials to your everyday studying. Secondly, we’ll do exercises from past exams so that you can become familiar and comfortable with the methodology required for your final exams. I’m a keen supporter of interactive and oral exercises, as I find they have extremely positive results for memory and confidence.

I’ll be here to help you, adapting to your needs and difficulties!

Chloe was a very helpful tutor, who helped me understand the strategies of planning long answers, which then helped me in my exams. She is also well organised, understanding and kind.

Hyunkyung Student Lesson review 1 Apr '18, 11:00

My sessions with Chloe is great - she organizes a lot of resources and exercises for the session beforehand and knows exactly what I need to improve on. Now, after a few months of sessions with Chloe, I think I have a much better understanding of French than before!
