About me

Hi all, I’m Axel and I’m a 4th year student at the University of Bath studying Mechanical Engineering, and I’m here to tutor Maths, Physics and German. I have consistently achieved top grades on my course and have also spent 15 months in industry as an Engineering Intern. I have consistently achieved top grades on my course and have also spent 15 months in industry as an Engineering Intern. The majority of modules within my degree revolve around maths and physics, so I apply my knowledge daily.

I am a very sociable and communicative person, being an active member within multiple societies, and I think my personality suits tutoring style very well!

I previously attended Lancaster Royal Grammar School, having studied Mathematics, Further Maths and Physics for A-Level achieving an A* in all 3. My maths A-Level modules revolved around core and mechanics, so I therefore tutor:

--> GCSE Maths - All modules/exam boards

--> A-Level Maths - C1,2,3,4, M1,2 & S1

--> GCSE Physics – All modules/exam boards

--> GCSE Maths - All modules/exam boards

Whilst in sixth form I was a maths tutor to multiple GCSE students, aiding in raising the grades of all tutees.

The key to my own exams and previous tutoring has always revolved around interaction and practise. If all aspects of a topic are covered, understood and practised, there is nothing within exams that can surprise you!

Within my tutorials I aim to establish the area of help required, guiding through and teaching fundamentals, before applying this to relevant practise questions.

About my sessions

The key to all my tutorials is interaction, engagement and practise, and I aim to engage my tutees within all work as much as possible. I find that this brings out the best results.

The key to all my tutorials is interaction, engagement and practise, and I aim to engage my tutees within all work as much as possible. I find that this brings out the best results.

I will structure my tutorials by establishing the focus topic of the session, before revising the relevant fundamental theories from material I will provide, so that the aims of the topic are understood.

This will then aid in the working through practise questions, from a wide range of example, revision and exam questions within each topic, to ensure all areas are covered. I am always open to any questions and able to apply my own knowledge at any point to make sure each student is as prepared as possible and no questions go unanswered.

I will make full use of the online whiteboard to deliver my tutorials as much as I can, as I believe the key to effective learning is to keep it as engaging, interactive and dynamic as possible.

I will keep track of progress of my students, so that I can gauge if I need to delve further into any specific areas to ensure the desired improvement and understanding has been achieved before moving on.

Axel has really helped me achieve the grades I would have dreamed of in maths and physics GCSE, with my maths going from a 7 to a 9 and physics from a low 8 to a high 9. I really recommend him due to his easy to understand way of explaining problems and how quickly he'll get the right questions for what you need to learn/revise. Thanks Axel :)

My Yr 11 son is enjoying his maths and physics sessions with Axel very much. He is well prepared, explains topics clearly and is really engaging. My son’s confidence is definitely improving as a result and he feels positive about his approaching exams. Axel’s patient input is making a real difference.

Axel is an amazing tutor, he finds the balance between helping you work it out and letting you find the answer on your own to make sure you get as much out of the session as possible. Definitely would recommend!
