About me

I am currently a second year student at Newcastle University studying Medicine. I have become increasingly fascinated with Medicine throughout my education- the scientific innovation and the complexity of the human body combined with decision making in patient’s care. I relish the challenge of diagnosis and responsibility in this dynamic field.

My experience of taking exams throughout my education has changed drastically between the stress of the first proper exams at high school to learning from my mistakes and having a much calmer exam season at my sixth form college.

I am a very keen scuba diver and musician, as well as enjoying many sports including hockey, squash and dance. During my education i have found playing music to be a help in increasing focus and also provides an escape from exam stress.

About my sessions

I used many different revision techniques to get the most out of my lessons and revision sessions including flash cards, types notes and written notes. I found the use of colours to relate information very handy. I definitely think a range of techniques should be used for maximum result.

I think I can help my tutees improve by providing a comfortable and encouraging learning space. I will prepare for each tutorial by asking the students prior to the session to send me the exam board they are studying with, the topic area they are struggling with and any specific questions so i can ensure i have the correct specification to hand. The tutorials will be delivered using the online whiteboard for diagrams and demonstrations with a lot of the information being passed verbally. The first 10 minutes of the session i will spend getting to know the student and their aims/goals both short and long term. In terms of progress i will measure this using question sets to test knowledge and understanding of the information covered at the end of each session.
