Hey guys, my name is Sam Perkins and I am a second year Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine student at the University of Nottingham.

I have been no stranger to struggling with my subjects and tutoring was really what helped me get to where I am today and found that if you can get on well with your tutor, the knowledge will come easily, I promise!

I love the degree that I'm doing as it encompases both Biology and Chemistry to a really high standard and in detail beyond what I thought was possible. Furthermore I am looking to persue a career in medicine following this degree and know how hard the route to get onto the medicine degree is. Having done the UKCAT also means that I am able to help you with all aspects of a medical application, I had a 100% success rate at interview in securing offers. The UKCAT is a hard exam and without the right tuitition it is very hard to get a competitive mark. But there are ways of making it easy but also enjoyable that I have learnt over the past two years.

I will be able to help you improve not only with knowledge I have aquired but mainly through my experiences as I truly know how hard things can get and will be here to support you with whatever it is, whether its Biology, Chemistry, Geography or things related to university application. I'm happy to help!

About my sessions

My approach to teaching is one of building up a good relationship with my student so that we can work together quickly and effectively to tackle any problems that you need help with. We can learn in a relaxed manner together or we can hit the books hard and get you where you need to be with some intensive learning. Either is fine with me and we can work out what's the best method for you.

Before each session I’ll draw out a full lesson plan with targets we should hope to achieve, and we will work through questions together every session. However, I'm not just going to give you the answer straight away, I will push you just like my teachers did so that you can achieve your full potential and beyond. I believe in not just only helping you with your specification material but also a bit beyond the syllabus so that you can develop and broaden your horizons of what these subjects have to offer.

Every session I will set you some questions to do which I will then mark and give you feedback on. Then we can gauge together how you are improving, not just through your confidence with the subject matter but also your raw marks on practice papers, so that you’re ready for when it really counts!

I'm really passionate about my subject and hope to progress into the field of medicine with my degree, and hopefully will be able to put this passion to good use to give you guys a helping hand!
