About me

Hi, I'm Harriet and I am an Oxford University Chemistry graduate. Having been through the GCSE and A-level process fairly recently, I still remember what a stressful time it can be, especially when it comes to exam season. As a result of this, I would love to be able to make the experience a little (or hopefully a lot) easier, by providing an alternative viewpoint on a topic, often having something explained in a slightly different way is all it needs to help someone to understand.

About my sessions

In my opinion, every student is different, not everyone learns in the same way and it will take time to get to grips with what works best for every individual. I would like to involve the student as much as possible in planning our tutoring time. This could involve me going through past paper questions, tackling one or two specific topics in detail, or even helping to make revision material that will be useful outside of the tutorial.

I would like to involve the student as much as possible in planning our tutoring time. This could involve me going through past paper questions, tackling one or two specific topics in detail, or even helping to make revision material that will be useful outside of the tutorial.

Another important aspect of doing well academically is to understand how the grades you get can be useful to you. I think that knowing what the student is aiming for, and what their goals are, will give us both a deeper understanding of how to tackle tutorial time together. It doesn’t matter if this goal is an A* or a C, what is important is developing a method to help to achieve this!

I would like to know in advance of the tutorial what the student would like to go over, to give me a chance to plan how the time can be best spent. I also think that spending a few minutes in the next tutorial recapping anything that was covered previously is a great way to make sure that the student has understood what they set out to. This could be done in a mini-test format, or simply talking through the key points.

She's helped to answer exam questions that I'd normally skip in an exam.

She's a very great and understanding teacher. She always makes sure that you understand your work before the lesson is over. There are always starter questions at the start to help you to recap your knowledge from the previous lesson.
