Having taken my A levels recently and continuing a STEM path , it was not long ago when I was in your situation and so I am here to help! My exams were the first year of the new linear A levels in the sciences, therefore, I am able to share my experiences on how to approach these new A levels for the best grades. I am friendly, approachable and reliable and am happy to advise you on how to get the grades you want!

I first started teaching science and mathematics during my time at sixth form where I voluntarily signed up to a scheme to tutor a GCSE student on a weekly basis. I developed a good friendship with the student and he began to enjoy exploring the concepts he had come across in class. He had expressed that he did not like science but after relating the concepts to real-life applications he began to like science and his grades also began to improve. I also taught him mathematics which he was good at but did not enjoy too much. I supported him through understanding what he did not enjoy and encouraged him to continue practicing and relating mathematics to applications we need on a day to day basis. I have gained 3 years of experience tutoring a range of abilities in Mathematics, the sciences and university preparation.

About my sessions

My experience of teaching was really enjoyable and taught me what teaching methods work well for students. I found that often students struggle to remember all of the content for examinations. My experience of teaching was really enjoyable and taught me what teaching methods work well for students. I found that often students struggle to remember all of the content for examinations. However, I can share some techniques to aid memory and understanding for all types of learners. This can be challenging but I have found relating concepts to real-life applications really helped students remember content. In addition, I am currently tutoring my sister who is taking her A levels exams this year. She has a good memory and so is able to memorise lots of information and so for her I focus on improving her understanding of the knowledge she has remembered which is increasingly relevant as A level questions become more synoptic.

I feel, it is most important to focus on building fundamental knowledge often missed out in class and then on how to apply the knowledge effectively in examination questions. Therefore, this will be the most beneficial way to improve through practicing exam questions and monitoring progress this way.
