About me

Hi everyone! I'm Isabella and I'm in my final year of university, studying joint honours History of Art and English at the University of Nottingham. Having studied both subjects in great depth at A level, I knew I had to pursue them at university as I quickly came to realise my curiosity for the subjects never seemed to stop growing. With History of Art, there are so many different mediums to study (e.g. painting, sculpture, performance art) so each one brings its own set of challenges and questions that I try to unravel as best as I can. After having achieved 198/200UMS at History of Art A level, I feel I have cracked the code on how to ace the exams through practising exam technique, as well as broadening my knowledge of art. Having been an avid reader all my life, I had to study English at university because I couldn't get enough. I love learning about various forms of literature, such as poetry as well as novels, therefore I have a good grasp on how to discuss each form in essays and exams. I gained nearly full marks on all of my English A level exams, so I would easily be able to aid students in their studies. Currently, I am the Social Secretary for the Art History Society at my university and have just planned a trip abroad in February to Madrid for my members! I am able to balance my studies, being an ambassador for the Art History department and being the social secretary of the society. Overall, it has been so rewarding and I will continue to work hard.

About my sessions

For each session, I will prepare by going over some of the key points I will be discussing in my online lesson and reviewing the objectives of each lesson in relation to the individual student's needs for their exam. My structure would be as so:

Explaining the key ideas we will be going over together in the session.Answering any queries on these ideas.Going through each idea section by section so you can get a grasp of them, using pictorial examples where appropriate.Giving the student a practise exam question, to let them apply these ideas into the exam context.Reading through their brief answer and highlighting what was good, and what can be improved on.Answering any final questions about the ideas from the session, as well as asking what they would like to go over in the next session.

I feel I can help students improve by showing them the exam techniques I used, that allowed me to do well, as well as adapting those techniques to the student's individual needs. I will measure their progress by seeing how they write in their practise examples that I give them, and how well they begin to grasp the concepts I teach them. Furthermore, I will give wider reading on the topics that will see an exponential rise in their grades, as it gives them a range of ideas and perspectives they may not have originally thought of themselves.
