Degree: Biolgical Sciences (Bachelors) - Exeter University
I have recently graduated with a Biological Scienes degree from the University of Exeter, a top university in the UK and part of the Russel group.
During my A-level biology, I struggled to find my footing and was nervous that I would not be able to do a degree in a subject I was so passionate about. A brilliant tutor helped me gain my confidence and brought a new, innovative approach to the subject which seemed to click with me. I was able to gain an A grade at A- level, and continued to succeed at university.
I understand that each student has a different way of learning, I am motivated to bring enthusiasm to the subject, so that i can make students passionate about Biology and allow them to fufil their potential.
In my second year of college, I tutored English Literature students in their first year year. I understand how to relay knowledge to those in younger years, and I know the importance of giving students the confidence to believe in their ideas.
I am keen to get an idea of what the students wants to gain from the session before-hand so I can get an idea of where they are up to, and where they are aiming to be. I still have my A-level Biology notes, so I will reer to those and ensure I research the correct syllabus for the student. I will send the student a document of revision notes after the session, so they have the material to refer back to.
All of the interactive pages that are used during the session, primarily for the use of drawing diagrams, will also be available for the student to refer back to. Ultimately, I will tailor each session to the student's needs - my main aim is to make it interesting and fun!
I have a specialism in Animal Biology and I have also undertaken Cellular, Molecular and Ecological modules so i have a broad knowledge of all Biological subjects. I gained my PADI Open Water diving qualification through a desire to understand more about Marine Biology. At the end of my second year, I attended a field trip Coral Reef module to the Bahamas, in which I assessed the environmental impacts on the progression of coral reefs. Furthermore, I also participated in Green Consultancy training to understand how Biology can be applied within a business. This was an excellent course and I now qualified as a Junior Consultant.
I hope my profile is of interest to you and I am happy to discuss any extra information you may have!

Plants have cells within them called photoreceptors. These receptors are light sensitive and the plant can detect the strength and direction of light, which is important for photosynthesis. The mechanism of plant response to light is known as photoautotropism - photo meaning light, and autotropism meaning an automatic growth response. It is the hormone auxin that initiates this responsesee more
