About me

I am currently studying a masters degree in physics at the University of Leeds and have been tutoring for the past 3 years. I have tutored maths, physics, chemistry and biology for a range of ages and abilities. Although my degree is primarily physics there is a large amount of maths and chemistry involved. Outside the classroom I like to teach and train Taekwondo and have been doing this for the past 16 years. I hope my experience in teaching and the subjects that I learn will help the students improve in their chosen subject.

About my sessions

I personally believe that every student learns differently and try to structure my lessons with this in consideration. Before the lesson I like to ask if the student has any particular areas which they find difficult and try to begin with easy warm up exercises in that area then build on them with longer questions and exam style questions. I try to talk them through it and explain each step when answering the questions. If I feel they need extra practice I may set a few questions as homework and would go through them the next lesson with them.

Questions Charlotte has answered

what is: a) 1/3 +1/4 ? b) 4/6 + 3/12?

a)First make the denominators the same by multiplying the 1/3 by 4 and 1/4 by 3. makesure top and bottom are multiplied then add the numerators together not denominators. answer should be 7/12. b) Do the same method as before so multiply 4/6 by 12 on the top and bottom an multiply 3/12 by 6 top and bottom then add together and simplify. alternative method multiply 4/6 by 2 on the top an bottom then add together. answer should be 11/12.a)First make the denominators the same by multiplying the 1/3 by 4 and 1/4 by 3. makesure top and bottom are multiplied then add the numerators together not denominators. answer should be 7/12. b) Do the same method as before so multiply 4/6 by 12 on the top and bottom an multiply 3/12 by 6 top and bottom then add together and simplify. alternative method multiply 4/6 by 2 on the top an bottom then add together. answer should be 11/12.
