I am a third year Durham University student currently studying Natural Sciences! I do modules involving biology, physics and maths as science is always something I've found super interesting! Learning the processes occurring inside your body and the plants around you in biology has always fascinated me and I enjoy sharing that passion. Outside of my degree I am involved in college rowing and I was also the social secretary for my college badminton club. I also enjoy dancing, skiing and playing video games.

My lessons tend to be tailored around what the student is currently learning in class in order to give them that extra confidence or boost if they're feeling left behind by their peers however, I am happy to focus on specific topics the student is struggling with if they come to me with what they would like to work on.

About my sessions

I like to find easy ways to remember things such as rhymes or acronyms so when you're in an exam environment, a little prompt you've remembered can help you get that bit further (I have taken exams every year for the past 6 years so I am well aware how stressful they can be!). It is for this reason a lot of my techniques are visual prompts - a diagram can get you a long way in structuring a biology question. With regards to maths, I believe practice is the best method for improvement therefore I talk through a lot of past paper questions to really get students familiar with them and the steps to follow when answering longer mark questions (such as simultaneous equations).

From experience I found a major increase in confidence when a student is able to get through a question on their own and they're able to look at how far they've come. It provides them with the motivation they may have needed to continue wanting to learn as I'm aware of how difficult it can be to get yourself to study if you find something incredibly challenging. It is for this reason that I like to make my lessons a fun environment and not simply a bombardment of facts they must learn.

I really enjoy my lessons with her, as she makes them fun and not always just spouting facts without a reasonable explanation. Whenever I give her a topic we do at school, she not only works with that, but goes the extra mile, and even if it seems difficult, I am able to understand with her method. She never gets annoyed or irritated when I'm sometimes late to lessons. When I have an exam coming up, she works through all we have done so far as a refresher and gives practice questions that are really helpful. Great tutor!

Couldn’t be better. She’s not one of those old, jarring, strict tutors that just irritate you spirit, she’s so nice and so smart. She never wings her lessons and always puts thought into it. After my first lesson with her everything has been tailored to suit my needs. When I’m acting dumb or don’t know the answer to a question I should know, she doesn’t shout or get annoyed and just takes her time and goes over it with me. I’m always late to my lessons, or unprepared or I book a lesson like ten minutes before but she’s never had a problem with my idiocy. So yeah, she’s the best tutor I’ve had so far, and is even better than my teachers the supposed professionals.
