I love the Spanish language and culture. I spent this summer in Peru, talking in Spanish the whole time, taking part in a human rights internship. I've been studying Spanish for around 8 years now, and I have over a year of tutoring experience in Spanish!

Equally, I am an avid reader. I adore literature and enjoy being able to discuss it and explore it whilst tutoring, making me an engaging and committed tutor. I study literature still (as a part of my Spanish course) and enjoy writing myself.

I am enthusiastic and positive - I love academia. I make an engaging and thorough tutor. I have years of experience formally and informally, and I'd love to help you too.

About my sessions

First lesson: After introductions we discuss where the student finds difficulty. Typically for my Spanish students they struggle with grammar, and want to practice speaking. First lesson: After introductions we discuss where the student finds difficulty. Typically for my Spanish students they struggle with grammar, and want to practice speaking. So for the first lesson I would examine their ability with basic tenses and structures, and we would get to know each other talking in Spanish, to check their ability here.

Similarly with English Language and Literature we would identify areas of difficulty and if simple, test those out in the first lesson, and if not discuss the subject a little more, and try some simple analyses of texts to ascertain ability.

Later lessons: I prefer to explain grammar in English to those who are struggling, so that it is clear and understood. We would practice and I explain the methods they can use to practice and remember these structures and rules. Sometimes we work on class assignments, look over completed exercises, check grammar and help in this way.

Similarly, for English Literature and Language (and Spanish Literature) we remind ourselves of the basics; what literary techniques there are. Afterwards we begin to analyse texts, identifying techniques and learning to understand their meaning, and how to explain and analyse them in an essay style relevant for the exam style. In an exam-essay context the key is economy, and this is achieved by thoroughly understanding the subject matter, marking criteria and using a clear style. We practice this every session.
