About me

Hi there! My name is Gem, and I am an undergraduate medical student currently studying at the University of Birmingham. I chose to pursue a vocation in Medicine because I’ve always been a massive fan of the sciences, but the most rewarding aspect is being able to communicate and help patients in whatever way possible, whether that’s just by offering a listening ear or actually being able to diagnose and treat their condition.

I chose to pursue a vocation in Medicine because I’ve always been a massive fan of the sciences, but the most rewarding aspect is being able to communicate and help patients in whatever way possible, whether that’s just by offering a listening ear or actually being able to diagnose and treat their condition.

I am a friendly and enthusiastic person who would love to help others succeed by passing on my knowledge. I have past tutoring experience with students of all ages, and I will be tailoring my teaching style method according to how the student learns best. I recently finished college and sat through all the new specification exams. Therefore, I can relate and offer support for any current GCSE/A-Level students. The subjects I have chosen to tutor are those I have a genuine interest in, and I will try my best to get you where you want to be!

My first priority would be to get to know the student and discuss about their aims/goals. I will be giving taster questions to begin with, and this will give me an insight into the level at which the student works best currently. Past paper questions will be used in the sessions, to help the student familiarise themselves with the exam format and model answers. Making mistakes is perfectly alright and is a key step in learning. I will provide encouragement and support at every stage, and the student will be advised to openly ask as many questions as they want. In the last 5/10 minutes of the session, the student’s understanding of the topic covered will be assessed using relevant questions too.
