About me

Hi I'm Lucy and I am a second year medical student. I've loved my time at University so far and find my subject so interesting. I always loved biology and chemistry at school and Medicine is a brilliant combination of the two in addition to having the privilege of getting to know patients and hearing their stories.

I always loved biology and chemistry at school and Medicine is a brilliant combination of the two in addition to having the privilege of getting to know patients and hearing their stories.

At Uni I've got involved tennis and netball as well as doing choir. I've also volunteered for Teddy Bear Hospital, an organisation teaching young children about health and hospitals as well as volunteering for an organisation called coachbright which is tutoring GCSE and A level students to help them achieve their desired grades.

At school I did well in exams but not without a lot of work and revision being put in. I have exams every term at University which all count towards my degree so I am very empathetic with the pressure you experience when revising and how difficult it can be to be motivated. I always found that if I didn't understand a teacher at school, it was always really helpful to get an explanation from somebody else so hopefully I can be that person for you.

I can help my students by being someone to fire questions at and helping them through topics they find difficult.

About my sessions

Lessons will start with the student telling me what they want to and need to do so that we work to their needs. I'll then try and get an idea of what they already know so that we aren't wasting any time. I personally always found that diagrams and drawings really helped me with learning concepts so I will always try to do this when possible. I also think that flashcards are a great technique which I still use now. However, if you know these techniques aren't helpful for you then I...

However, if you know these techniques aren't helpful for you then I will find other methods as I know we are not all the same. At the end of the session I'll give you some practice questions based on what we've done so that you can really cement what you learnt.

I think the best way to measure progress is by setting goals. We will make these together so that they are achievable, realistic, precise and measurable. However, achievable and realistic does not mean these goals aren't stretching you as that is what I aim to do. I also think these goals will encourage your learning as they are smaller things to aim for whilst overall getting to the grade you want.
