About me

Hello, my name is Brian and I am currently a 3rd year medical student at Newcastle University.

Hello, my name is Brian and I am currently a 3rd year medical student at Newcastle University.

One of the reasons I decided to study medicine is because of my strong interest in science. I believe that this interest stems from having effective and enthusiastic teachers that motivated me to learn more about science. I hope I can convince others to do the same, and also help them achieve their goals in the process.

I try my very best to make lessons interesting and engaging for the student, and will use drawings and pictures to paint a clearer picture of the idea that is being illustrated. I also try to increase the student's interest in science by asking them challenging questions to stimulate their curiosity, hoping it will encourage better understanding of curricular material. To specifically help students tackle exams (especially for GCSE/A-Level/UKCAT Students), I will include exam technique tutoring during sessions. This may include describing how to manage time during an exam, how to format an answer, and particular things that examiners are looking for in a good answer. Sessions are always specifically tailored around a student's strengths/weaknesses, to increase the effectiveness of a tutorial.

This includes practice interview questions, and describing general knowledge expected by medical schools in interviews.

Personal Statements

Sessions involve providing guidance on what qualities medical schools are looking for, and how best to address these qualities in your personal statement. We will also be going through how to structure and present information.

UKCAT

Sessions mostly involve certain techniques that can be applied in the different sections of the test, practice questions and general advice on how to prepare for the UKCAT.
