I am a final year Psychology student, studying at the University of Bath. I have always been interested in the brain and its interaction with biological factors and the world when producing behaviour. For this reason, I studied Psychology in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, where I obtained 7 out of 7 possible marks. I also did my Extended Essay in Psychology, where I obtained full marks. My understanding of Psychology has since been furthered, at the University of Bath, which has the highest-ranked Psychology program in the UK and has provided me with incredible resources and opportunities. Furthermore, I have clinical experience, working with a professional clinical psychologist and interacting with patients, including children and adolescents. I also have lab experience, since for my dissertation I am currently investigating sensory substitution devices for the blind. Lastly, I have experience in teaching children and adolescents, since I taught English to refugee minors in a summer program in Athens. I therefore have both the psychological experience and the teaching experience in order to be effective in delivering an engaging and informative lesson.
I believe that teaching in psychology should include encouraging students to understand key underlying concepts and use them to formulate an evaluative answer. Therefore, I aim to not simply answer questions but teach students to structure their answers well and critically evaluate psychological theories and evidence. I believe that this will enable students to answer any exam or essay question that they encounter, and earn top marks by being critical and original.
