About me

I'm currently in my 3rd year studying Medicine at the University of Nottingham and I have loved my University experience so far. The transition between GCSEs, A-levels and University isn't always easy but there's lots of tips and techniques you can use to help along the way.

I am a volunteer with Age UK and work part-time outside my studies. The workload during medical school can be tough but it's one that's definitely manageable if you plan your time well and find the right way to study.

I aim to work alongside my students to find the way they learn best so I can adapt my tutoring techniques to best suit this. Finding the way you revise best is one of the most important parts of doing well in exams. Just trying to memorise information you don't understand makes like a lot harder so I want to help my students fully understand the topics they're studying - this in itself will get you a long way towards improving your grades.

I really enjoy what I study and I want to encourage students to be enthusiastic about what they're learning too. Enjoying what you're doing makes it so much easier to spend those necessary hours studying and revising for exams.

About my sessions

My lessons will be structured around the areas the student finds most challenging; then progressing to other topics later on. I’ve found that repetition is a key part of retaining knowledge so the previous lesson’s work will be briefly revisited at the start of each lesson. This will also help me to assess how much progress my students are making.

I always find that being able to visualise what I’m learning helps me understand and remember it so I use a graphics pad to write/draw diagrams etc. within the lesson space during my lessons.

For me, the best way to revise was to use question and answer flashcards to memorise each aspect of a topic. This may not work for everyone so I aim to work with my students to find their ideal revision technique.
