About me

Hi! I'm Emma, a final-year languages student at the University of Cambridge. I've just come back from my Year Abroad, where I spent four months in Spain and seven months in France.

I love studying languages because they involves a whole range of topics and skillsets; apart from grammar, there's also translation, films, books and insights into world history and philosophical thought. It's so varied that it's difficult to get bored!

I love studying languages because they involves a whole range of topics and skillsets; apart from grammar, there's also translation, films, books and insights into world history and philosophical thought. It's so varied that it's difficult to get bored!

I love to help students get to grips with tricky grammar points, through teaching and exercises. I create a lot of my materials from contemporary articles from French and Spanish culture, to make lessons fun and memorable. I also like to set translation exercises which improve vocabulary, help students with ideas for school work, and improve their confidence.

About my sessions

Lessons are relaxed and tailored to the needs of each individual student. Lessons are a good place to consolidate or look over the work begun in class, and I prepare additional materials (worksheets, questions to answer) for extra practice.

I think that often students lack confidence in their own language abilities, and so my lessons are aimed at improving and consolidating language skills so that they can go into an exam feeling well-prepared and confident. I think it's important...

I think that often students lack confidence in their own language abilities, and so my lessons are aimed at improving and consolidating language skills so that they can go into an exam feeling well-prepared and confident. I think it's important to see the language in action outside of the exam context, and so I like to draw on contemporary resources such as news articles to help students gain a greater understanding both of the language and of the culture in general that they are studying.
