About me

Hello, my name is Punit and I am a second year Medical Student at the University of Exeter. Additionally, I have previously completed two years of Medical Science at Oxford Brookes University, afterwhich I transferred to Medicine, so I have plenty of experience with Biology. Also, I hold A-levels in Chemistry, Maths, and Physics. My GCSE's in all three sciences and maths were at an A* grade.

I love studying about the human body and its normal functions. Also, Medicine as a profession is a great opportunity to make a positive difference in people's lives, and by tutoring, this is exactly what I hope to continue on doing!

I am also happy to be delivering sessions giving general advice about admission into Uni (Medicine or generally), personal statements, Medical interviews etc (I have experience with MMIs).

About my sessions

I am a strong believer in my pupils to be at the centre of sessions, and I am willing to teach according to the needs of the pupil. I hope to recognise the strengths and weaknesses in particular areas so that we can work on areas that need the most improvement.

I hope to make my sessions interactive, explain concepts in a clear manner and also test understanding by asking questions at the end of sessions to see what the pupil has gained from the session. I also hope to allow plenty of opportunity for pupils to ask questions and I will attempt to answer them to the best of my ability.

Questions Punit has answered

What are the components of a circulatory system in the human body?

The heart pumps blood around the body. Blood is carried by blood vessels: arteries and veins. Arteries carry blood away from the heart, and then divide into smaller arterioles. Arterioles carry blood into capillaries, which provide tissues and organs. Oxygen is removed from the blood as tissues require. The deoxygenated blood is carried into venules and veins and then back to the heart. This is the systemic circulation of the body. The heart consists of four chambers: left atrium, left ventricle, right ventricle and right atrium. Deoxygenated blood returns to the right atrium via the vena cavae. Blood goes into the right ventricle and is pumped to the lungs via the pulmonary arteries. Blood picks up oxygen at the lungs. The oxygenated blood returns to the left atrium via the pulmonary veins and then travels to the left ventricle. Blood is ejected to the rest of the body from the left ventricle via the aorta.
