About me

Hiya, I'm Rob, a second year Medical student at the University of Cambridge. I have a passion and enthusiasm for the sciences and languages which I would love to share with those who'd like a bit of extra help.

Years of tutoring my younger sister and peers through subjects they found challenging at school has enabled me to develop many styles of teaching. Growing up in Paris gave me the opportunity to both become fluent in spoken and written french, and also to gain experience tutoring from a young age when I was asked to help teach the students English. As a result I am confident we will find a style of teaching that suits you.

In the sciences I place a large emphasis on conceptual understanding-without which the more detailed knowledge required to attain the top grades is much more difficult to acquire. Good exam technique is also extremely important and can make a big difference to grades even if the knowledge was all there.

In my experience of language tuition, students struggle the most with spoken language and idiom. Hence in addition to helping vocabularly acquisition and grammatical understanding, I shall where possible encourage conversation during the tutorials to be in the language of study. I have various websites which I can recommend for improving reading and listening ability.

In addition to the academic subjects I am more than happy to help with Medical School or Oxbridge applications or even UCAS in general. These are very fresh in my mind having been through the process little more than a year ago myself.

I look forward to meeting you!
