About me

Hello! I'm Sam and I am currently studying for a degree in Philosophy at the University of Bristol. Originally from London, I have undertaken numerous entrance exams, 11 GCSEs, 4 AS/A Levels, University Entrance Tests and more.

Hello! I'm Sam and I am currently studying for a degree in Philosophy at the University of Bristol. Originally from London, I have undertaken numerous entrance exams, 11 GCSEs, 4 AS/A Levels, University Entrance Tests and more.

I thoroughly enjoyed all of my GCSE subjects, which made choosing A Level options difficult. However, I have a passion for debating, a skill which I have developed throughout my studies and as such, decided to opt for a degree in Philosophy and I am planning on converting to Law in the future.

My particular skills as a tutor and what separates me from the rest of the crowd is my depth of experience, having taught for both the old and new GCSE and A Level exams, my rigorous work ethic and my essential focus on exam preparation and revision skills. For my own exams, I was keen to work out the most effective and efficient methods for success and, as a result, I have built up a bank of knowledge of the best ways to go about doing this for respective subjects. I would be grateful for the opportunity to now help others in fulfilling their academic potential in increasingly challenging exams.

Having been tutored myself in the past, I am well aware of the hugely positive impact a tutor can have in regards to the learning of students of all ages. Being a tutor has allowed me to fulfil my desire of sharing my knowledge of my chosen subjects and lessons I have learnt from successes and setbacks during my academic career.

'Clarity of Communication’, in my view, is vital when tutoring and this is reflected in my style of giving Online Lessons. Teaching will be based around the topics which the tutee will have chosen prior to the session. This will allow me to best prepare useful materials and come up with the key points to go over during the lesson.

An Online Lesson will consist of me gaining an understanding of the areas the tutee would like to sharpen and focus on. No matter the topic of choice or the subject, concepts will be talked through and clearly explained. Further activities will also be used to supplement knowledge of the chosen topic, whether it be thinking of counter-arguments of a viewpoint or going over related past paper questions. Overall, the nature of what the tutee decides to focus on will dictate the content of the lesson.

I am confident that my provision of a clear, non-judgemental and friendly Online Lesson for all tutees will be of aid in the improvement of their academic grades and will help them to reach their potential by solidifying their subject knowledge. In terms of tracking progress, I will gauge a tutee's strengths and weaknesses within topic areas and ensure that weaknesses are improved upon by, for example, revisiting a topic to ensure knowledge of it is retained overtime, as well as testing the tutee's skills in applying their knowledge to different styles of question, as this is a key requirement for success in numerous exams.

Sam was a fantastic tutor. Sam planned his sessions checking what topics to focus on and planning accordingly. He improved my dyslexics sons confidence for his GCSE Geography exam enabling him to sit the exam feeling capable and prepared. Thank you!
