About me

I am studying Medicine at the University of Glasgow and I am in my 4th year. I did an intercalated degree specialising in cardiovascular studies last year.

Medicine has been a subject I have wanted to pursue since being exposed to a local hospital during my school work placement week. I have had a strong interest in biology from my studies at school but I wanted to apply it in a way that would directly help people sitting right in front of me. I aspire to be a doctor that is competent, adaptable and enthusiastic.

Exams are difficult at every level but I believe that with effective and targeted learning techniques, that even the most nervous of students are able to achieve their best. My application for university was well supported by my school and we were empowered to strive for the courses we wanted. We each had a supervisor and they guided us in the right direction and were very supportive.

At university, I am the President of the Glasgow Anaesthetics Society and I help to organise the annual conference, revision events and clinical skills nights. I recently have become a speaker for the British Heart Foundation and I will be involved in going to schools, societies and clubs to present the work of the BHF and raise awareness about heart disease.

I believe that each student has their own unique learning technique - what works for some might not work for others. Listening to the student's problems and experiencing their methods for learning creates a unique tutor-student relationship. Tailoring classes to the individual is essential to helping them achieve their potential.

Before each tutorial I will have familiarised myself with the students subject, exam board, level, topics and their goal. I will research the syllabus and use various resources (BBC website, YouTube, textbooks) so that I can look at the topics from many different angles. For many students, visual diagrams and going through them step-by-step makes the student see the answering process. Encouraging the student to answer questions is good for practice and will boost their confidence in themselves.

Jun is an absolutely amazing tutor! so knowledgeable and in just two lessons she taught me techniques for the UKCAT that will help boost my score. So kind and always willing to answer questions and help you throughout the way. I will highly recommend her as a tutor and will probably get my personal statement and interview advice from her as well. Thank you once again Jun!
