About me

Hi! My name is Molly, and I'm a third year French and Spanish student at the University of Oxford. I absolutely love learning languages, whether that be the grammar and vocabulary of the language itself or the culture, history and literature of Francophone or Hispanic countries. I hope that through tutoring, I can encourage other students to be just as passionate about languages as I am! I absolutely love learning languages, whether that be the grammar and vocabulary of the language itself or the culture, history and literature of Francophone or Hispanic countries. I hope that through tutoring, I can encourage other students to be just as passionate about languages as I am! Being a tutor of English as a second language and also having benefited from a tutor in secondary school, I feel that I really understand the importance of tutoring and what students need from their tutor in order to help them gain confidence and make progress.

I am also more than happy to help with university applications, especially Oxbridge applications - having just gone through this process as a first-generation, state-educated student, I completely understand that it can be very stressful and daunting!

Through engaging and interesting lessons (with an enthusiastic tutor!), I would love to help with whichever aspect of language learning is proving to be difficult, whether that be literature, translation or specific grammar points.

About my sessions

For me, Online Lessons are all about focusing on the needs of the student. Tutoring is a unique one-to-one teaching opportunity unlike a classroom environment, so I make sure that my lessons are interactive and more of a discussion than a lecture. I identify any areas which the student finds most challenging, and ensure that my content is based around improving and gaining confidence in these topics. Most importantly, I try to let my students set the pace, therefore making sure that they are...

Most importantly, I try to let my students set the pace, therefore making sure that they are super confident and secure in any content covered before moving on. I like to measure students' progress through short comprehension tests, and for A Level and GCSE students, through past paper questions. I think these are really useful in order to consolidate the skills acquired in the sessions and apply knowledge to an exam situation so that the student is really prepared and confident when they sit their exams!

Molly made a massive difference to our daughter's GCSE result. When she started with Molly she had just scraped a 6 in her mock. She has now got an 8 in her actual GCSE in no small part due to her weekly sessions with Molly, which developed her Spanish, her confidence and gave her some really important pointers on how to 'get the marks'. Highly recommended.
