Hi, my name is Adam and I'm a recent graduate of Durham University in English Literature. Being only 22 I really understand and sympathize with the struggles current students have with the subjects I teach. This makes it easier for me to engage with students and equip them with the skillset to achieve their full potential. I also guest as a teaching assistant at local schools to stay up to date with the curriculum. When studying at GCSE and A-Level, you feel as though so much of your future depends upon your results. At this age my online tutor not only helped me achieve my grades, but also developed my overall abilities in my subjects, which made my studies at university a lot easier. After my students explain their problems within their subject, I examine their work. Thus, I'll identify what they need to do in order to reach the level they seek to be at, at a pace they feel comfortable with. Developing ones understanding of these subjects not only equips you with academic skill; but it helps develop crucial life skills as well. My passion for these subjects came from realizing how much one can benefit from studying them more intensely. I've always found online tuition invaluable as it allows a student to receive personal attention, allowing them achieve their full potential.

About my sessions

In advance of the lesson I would like to know what exam board the student is on, the texts are studying and some examples of their work. I then identify how they can improve. During the session I will talk my student through where I believe they can improve and I will set them new questions and topics. They will talk me through how they’d answer it, amending their previous mistakes. We’ll then look at how they’ve progressed, but highlight what they can still do to improve. We’ll do this with...

We’ll do this with as many areas as possible in the session. I will set them homework where they will aim to improve upon the area we are working on. I’ve always found that students improve more when they understand exactly what it is they need to work on and have methods of how they can improve simplified for them. Thus, I will put a chart together with a list of everything they can do to improve. I’ll talk them through this so they fully understand and we’ll only tick something off when they show that they no longer need to focus on this area. When I was studying at this level I prepared plans for every theme and topic in each text. I do this with my students so they will be able to formulate an answer to any question that may come up in an exam. I encourage various revision techniques to help students remember what we have covered. If they are unsatisfied with anything we are doing we can discus a different approach or focus on different areas.
