About me

I studied IB at United World College of South East Asia in Singapore followed by a degree in Writing, Directing and Performance at the University of York and, having completed that, I’m here to pass my understanding of drama and literature onto whoever needs it. With understanding comes enjoyment, with enjoyment comes confidence and I have experience providing all three. After all, drama and literature were created to be enjoyed, and studying them should really be no different.

I’m currently working towards a qualification in ‘Teaching English as a Foreign Language’, which teaches you to build on what the student already knows. Most students know more than they think and I can’t wait to help them build on that, up until the moment they walk into that exam hall, confident in their ability to ace it.

About my sessions

The student is the focus of every lesson I do. If you’re terrified of an unseen commentary; that’s what we’ll do. If you don’t understand a word of 'A Clockwork Orange'; there’s my lesson plan. We tackle the text first; diving in head first to see what literary techniques jump out, what images spring to mind, what the rhythm makes us feel. Then we structure it; how do we communicate these ideas in three succinct points that work towards proving one, simple argument. Get this structure...

We tackle the text first; diving in head first to see what literary techniques jump out, what images spring to mind, what the rhythm makes us feel. Then we structure it; how do we communicate these ideas in three succinct points that work towards proving one, simple argument. Get this structure right from day one and that’s half the work done. If this approach suits you then get in touch. I’m open to both short and long-term tutoring so, regardless of how big or small your problems seem, I'm here to help.
