One bag has 4y+2 counters in it and another has 6y-2 counters in it. The bags have the same number of counters in them. Calculate the value of y.

4y+2=6y-2, add 2 to both sides. 4y+4=6y, subtract 4y from both sides. 4=2y, divide both sides by 2 y=2
