Finding the value of x when 3x + 5 = 35

3x + 5 = 35

In this situation, you would want to take away 5 to both sides.

3x + 5 - 5 = 35 - 5

3x = 30

Then you would want to divide both sides by 3 in order to get x on the left hand side of the equation.

3x/3 = 30/3

x = 10.
