Mike has 4 blue balls, 6 green balls and 10 yellow balls what is the probability that he will pick a yellow ball.

It would be worked out by adding 4+6+10 to get 20 and then it would be number of yellow balls over total number of balls which would be 10/20. Depending on ability this may then be simplified down to 1/2.

How do I know which calculation to do first in questions with multiple operations (e.g. 2 x 3 - 2 x 5)?

Factorise 2x^2+x-3

Solve the following equations showing your method clearly. 3(2x + 9) − 7x = 4(x + 3)

w and x are whole numbers. w >40, x<30. Work out the smallest possible value of w-x.
