How do I conjugate tener, ser, ir and hacer in the preterite tense in Spanish?

Tener, ser and hacer are all irregular verbs in the preterite tense.

Tener is conjugated using the stem tuv- to which different endings are added.

Yo tuve, tú tuviste, él/ella/usted tuvo, nosotros tuvimos, vosotros tuvisteis, ellos/ellas/ustedes tuvieron

Hacer has the stem of hic- apart from in the 3rd person singular, where the 'C' changes to a 'Z'

Yo hice, tú hicisteis, él/ella/usted hizo, nosotros hicimos, vosotros hicisteis, ellos/ellas/ustedes hicieron

Ir and ser are have the same conjugation in the preterite tense. Both verbs have the stem of fu- and follow this pattern:

Yo fui, tú fuiste, él/ella/usted fue, nosotros fuimos, vosotros fuisteis, ellos/ellas/ustedes fueron
