Describe features found in the upper course of a river

In the upper course of the river the river is beginning so is narrow, shallow and low energy. This low energy causes sediment to not move and therefore pebbles and rocks aren't moved by the waters action. Small grains of sediment may be carried down the river. The upper course of the river is found in highland areas, waterfalls are common.
