What are the assumptions of the biological approach?

The biological approach has many assumptions founded on the expectation that behaviour can be explained in terms of our biological systems. More specifically, behaviour can be explained in terms of factors such as brain structure, genes and hormones. For instance, a detailed example of how behaviour may be explained, according to the biological approach, is via brain sturcture. Within the brain there are many different areas which serve different functions. If there is damage to a particular area then this could impair the functioning of the brain e.g. damage to Broca's area would result in impaired speech thus affecting behaviour.
