Is breaking the law always immoral? Discuss.

Most importantly, answers to essay questions in the LNAT need to be relevant and well-written. These are the qualities of a good lawyer.
The answer to this question should therefore demonstrate a balanced approach to the argument, with the use of various examples. For example, you could say that breaking the law is not always immoral by taking a ‘Robin Hood’ philosophical approach: robbing from the rich to feed the poor is clearly not immoral, even though it is illegal. A counter argument could be that it is necessary to define the key word ‘immoral’, and discuss whether crimes must be inherently immoral in some way. Examples such as tax evasion and murder could then be contrasted with minor crimes such as petty theft. An interesting talking point could be whether the punishment of imprisonment indicates that breaking the law is always immoral, as this results in a restriction of our basic rights, which should only be taken away when truly necessary.
The answer should be concluded in such in such a way that the examiner can see your opinion clearly. The conclusion should be an obvious manifestation of the previous paragraphs.
