I have £300 I want to split between my daughters Megan, Danni and laura in the ratio 3:4:1 respectively. How much money will Danni get?

Firstly, we need to add up how many 'parts' this money is being split into by adding the ratio, 3+4+1 = 8 parts. Now we need to calculate how much one part is equal to by splitting our £300 into the 8 parts. we do this by simply doing 300/8 = £37.50 Danni has 4 parts so we do £37.50 x 4 = £150.00

Solve the following simultaneous equations. 2x + 5y = -4. 7x + y = 19

Here is a right-angled triangle (base = 8cm and height = 9cm) and a rectangle (length = 16cm). The area of the rectangle is 6 times the area of the triangle. Work out the width of the rectangle.

What is Pythagoras' theorem and what can it be used to figure out?

Why do we use simultaneous equations?
