Knowing this, we can divide the total number of miles travelled (200) by 35 to get the total number of litres of diesel used for this journey (i.e. how many times 35 can go into 200). 200/35 = 5.7142857… Next, in the question, we are told that each litre of diesel costs £7.30, so now we need to multiply the number of litres used for this journey by 7.30 to get the total cost of driving the lorry 200 miles.5.7142857 x 7.3 = 41.7142857 = £41.71 (2dp)
