How do you say 'the best/worst/funniest/scariest thing is...'

In your Spanish GCSE written and oral exams, you will be asked for your opinion. One of the most popular ways to do this is to say 'the best/worst/funniest/scariest thing is...'There is a specific way to translate these types of sentences (which many people get wrong!)A lot of students translate directly and end up with sentences looking like this:la peor cosa es... the worst thing is...la mejor cosa es... the best thing is...la cosa más graciosa fue... the funniest thing was...These are direct translations from English and do not make sense in Spanish! When these words are used as nouns, 'lo' is used as a definite article as it refers to no particular noun. So, the sentences should be formed as follows:lo peor es... the worst thing is...lo mejor es... the best thing is...lo más gracioso fue... the funniest thing was...
