Nine-thousand five-hundred and forty-two people attend a pop concert. Round this number to the nearest hundred.

Answer: nine-thousand five-hundred (9,500)
There are 9 thousands, 5 hundreds, four tens and 2 units. We need to round the hundreds and the answer we have in 5 hundreds. Because of there being 5 hundreds we need to look at the tens column as to whether we need to round up or down. There are 4 tens, this tells us that we need to round down because any numbers 5< we round up but any <5 we round down. The answer is therefore 9,500.

Make x the subject of the equation: y = 4(x+2)/5x-1

The point p lies on the curve with eqn x = (4y - sin(2y)^2, given that p has coordinates (p,π/2), p is a constant, a) find the exact value of p; the tangent to the curve at P cuts the y-axis at A, b) use calculus to find the coordinates of A.
