Solve simultaneous equations 3x+2y=9 5x-2y=7

Here we need to get rid of either the x or the y to find one solution to start us off. By adding these equations together we get:

3x+5x+2y-2y=9+7

The y's are eliminated to leave 8x=16. So x is 2!

We can then substitute the x value into one of the equations to find the y:

3(2)+2y=9

2y=3 therefore,   y=1.5
