How do writers engage their readers?

There are numerous writing styles, depending on the purpose of the text. For instance, is the author trying to inform their audience? Are they wanting to take them into a fictional world of adventure through their work? Regardless of their different aims, these authors share some essential writing skills that enable them to engage their reader. So, here we will have a look at how to do this.
The most important starting point to any great piece of writing is accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar. Without these, your reader will soon be quite confused and not understand the text as well as they could have. So, make sure to tick these three things off at all times! A concise writing style is important to express ideas clearly and effectively. This helps to ensure that the the reader does not lose focus or get confused by irrelevant information! Interesting sentece starters are also key- begin sentences with different verbs, use adjectives to describe things and, at times, make usr of rhetorical questions that enable the reader to feel involved in the text. These are just are ways that authors engage their readers. Next time you read something, think about how the text is engaging you! What other ways can you maybe spot?
