Evaluate the claim that the aim of all ethical principles is to cultivate sympathy

'Evaluate': Assess the terms of the question and their implications'Sympathy': feeling pity for someone else. The claim that the aim of all ethical principles is to cultivate sympathy is a sweeping and inaccurate generalisation. Although sympathy, or feeling pity for other people, is cultivated in principles such as utilitarianism and situational ethics, the majority of ethical principles in the world tell us to look out solely for ourselves. We see this most evidently in egoism and virtue ethics.
