Solve 7x + 6 > 1 + 2x

To solve a question we want to get the x terms and one sides, the variables, and the numbers on the other side, the constants.7x + 6 > 1 + 2xSubtract 2x from 7x so we only have x terms on the left hand side of the > : 5x + 6 > 1Subtract 6 from 1 so we only have constants on the right hand side of the > : 5x > -5Now all we need to do is to divide by 5 to get the x on it's own and we've answered the question: 5x > (-5/5) => x > -1
If we'd started by subtracting 7x from 2x we still would have got the same answer.
